Awesome insights on Chap. 3,4, and 5! I was really impressed by how we all basically pinpointed the highlights of the chapters as well as how they related to our lives as teachers in the classroom. Comments were also brought up about certain issues that are presently affecting our educational system. Hopefully, the issue about the lack of an ESL teacher at my school will be resolved soon because our students are really hurting for lack of proper educational assistance. It just saddens me to realize that a situation like this is truly happening in this day and age. It's as if we're still in the "Dark Ages." Thanks to Dr. Rivera for setting up the Eluminate Session; it was worth all the Cheetos that Erik ate! (<:

ReplyDeleteIt is so often that we see the many things our schools are lacking. However, kudos to you for staying in the game and putting your time and effort with the students. Like Dr. Rivera mentioned, not everyone can teach. But we who do, truly have the gift!

ReplyDeleteESL teachers are lacking, the MLI program is trying to produce them, but many of them are dual certified, and prefer to stay in their subject. However, the school should be able to find an emergency certified person to staff the classroom until a certified teacher is available. I second Mar's statement as well, your experience and dedication is a great asset for us, and a great example for us young guns and how we ought to conduct ourselves throughout our career.
